Speaker Bio

Gail is a Registered Nurse who graduated in 1987 with her BSN from the University of British Columbia (UBC) School of Nursing.  With extensive experience in a variety of hospital and community based settings for psychiatric/mental health programs, she now specializes in Mental Health & Wellness and adult psychotherapy.  Gail is an authorized instructor for Mental Health First Aid Canada & for life skills programs from the Changeways Clinic. With a certificate in Legal Nurse Consulting, Gail also offers her mental health expertise to lawyers, human resource departments, advocacy groups and insurance companies. Gail is passionate about public education on mental health issues.  From her years of experience, she recognizes that support for clients AND their respective employers is critical for prevention or management of medical leave due to mental illness, and for successful return to work strategies.  Outside of work, she volunteers for the Calgary Homeless Foundation, Calgary Legal Guidance and is on the leadership committee for UBC Alumni.   One of her favourite daily relaxation strategies is to spend time with her beloved dog, Tommy. Gail is honoured to announce that she was nominated for the 2012 CARNA Award of Nursing Excellence in Clinical Practice.
